Purpose

To deveop and enhnce leadership skills for the LPN through the use of team building, communication, and conflict resolution skills.

Objectives

  1. Identify characteristics of an effective leader.
  2. Differentiate appropriate use of leadership styles.
  3. Develop skills for effective team building.
  4. Describe the three basic types of communication.
  5. Practive assertive communication skills.
  6. Identify potential conflict issues and resolution strategies.

Speakers

Cindy Stotler-Stephens, MSN, BSN, RN, nursing education instructor, Eldon Career Center. Cindy has held positions as staff nurse, clinical nurse, supervisor, and instructor for a BSN program. Sonja Howard, BSN, RN, retired nursing education instructor. Sonja has also held positions as staff nurse, clinical nurse, supervisor, and instructor for RN and LPN programs.
